DRRL is a non profit organization (501(c)3) run by volunteers. It was
established separately from the DRBC to
assist Devon Rex in crisis. The DRRL is a network of Devon breeders and
fanciers all over the country that avail ourselves to the local shelters,
humane societies and veterinarian offices so that should a Devon come
to one of these facilities in crisis, we are able to offer help. Our mission
is to ensure that Devon Rex that have been abandoned or abused end up
in very happy homes. We feel that our breed is very sensitive and intelligent
and like all cats, deserves the best treatment possible by their owners.
The qualifications are strict about adopting one of our Devons in rescue;
we do not want a Devon who has already gone through the stress of abandonment
and home change to go to yet another home that might not work out. Potential
families are screened by reputable breeders and we request references
before placement. We do not want our adoptee to free roam outside, no
declawing and all rescues are spayed and neutered before placement.
The new owner must be willing to pay for all fees incurred since the cat's
rescue or in special cases, a set adoption fee.
If you are interested in owning a Devon Rex, we strongly urge you to contact
a reputable breeder in your area. If for any reason during the life of
the Devon you are faced with having to place it, please contact the breeder
that sold you your cat first. Do NOT place your Devon in a shelter, leave
it outside, sell it to a laboratory or give it to someone who may not
take exceptionally good care of this cat. At least let the breeder know
who owns the cat at that point so that should the cat ever end up in rescue,
we can trace the breeder and hopefully work with them to make the rest
of the Devon's life the very best that it can be.
is where you can view our current rescues.
We no longer keep waiting lists so check back often for the availability
of Devon Rex rescues. We never know when a Devon will end up in need and
the availability can change daily. All contact information for each rescue
will be provided and questionnaires are available for the rescues that the
DRRL directly handles.
